Meet The Maker

Hi, I’m Catherine, a passionate knitter whose hands are rarely without yarn and needles.  I find joy in the rhythm of the needles and the endless possibilities of fibre.  I come from a legacy of women who knitted and crocheted beautiful items from lace dollies to sweaters and everything in between.  I started learning the craft at about age 8 from my grandmother, mother, and sister and have been consistently knitting and crocheting ever since.  My first projects started with knitting tiny Barbie clothes and by my teens I had advanced to knitting intricate patterned sweaters, learning skills I still carry today to create quality pieces that I am proud to sell.

The Knotty Yarns journey started a few years ago from a Christmas project for my five granddaughters.  I decided to knit them all a toque and a blanket as gifts.  They were a big hit and so I decided to try selling at a local market.  My first market was a roaring success and so Knotty Yarns was officially launched.  

Recently I have expanded my business to having a mobile yarn store, a 16 foot cargo trailer converted to a shop.  It allows me to travel to various events and communities to sell not only my knitted goods but also beautiful yarns and notions.

When I take a break from clicking my needles, I enjoy being active playing pickleball, walking our Labrador Retriever, Bacardi, and golfing.

I love connecting with fellow fibre artists and continuing to learn and hone my craft, from attending various workshops or hosting sessions for people who want to learn.
